INSTALLATION AND OPERATION MANUAL – OWNER'S RECORD PEM MANUAL – PARTICULATE EMISSION MONITOR
If the probe is removed while a potentially flammable dust/air mixture is present, this connection shall be maintained during
the withdrawal of the probe.
II. The part of this equipment that houses the electronics is suitable for an upper ambient of 55°C and the standard range
of atmospheric pressure; the user/ installer shall ensure that maximum process temperatures and pressures do not
cause these parameters to be exceeded.
III. Glands and blanking plugs shall maintain the IP66 ingress protection of the enclosure and fitted with a suitable sealing
washer.
IV. If the equipment is likely to come into contact with aggressive substances (e.g. acidic liquids or gases that may attack
metals or solvents that may affect polymeric materials relied upon for sealing), then it is the responsibility of the
user/installer to take suitable precautions that prevent it from being adversely affected, thus ensuring that the type of
protection (dust exclusion) is not compromised.
V. Under certain extreme circumstances, the non-metallic labels, window (if present), and insulating bush (if present)
may store an ignition-capable level of electrostatic charge. Therefore, the electronics enclosure shall not be installed
in a location where the external conditions are conducive to the build-up of electrostatic charge on such surfaces.
In addition, the non-metallic parts shall only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
VI. The equipment shall only be connected to a supply where the prospective short-circuit current does not exceed 1500 A.
3.5 EQUIPMENT MARKING INFORMATION
The PEM sensor unit has two labels applied to its enclosure: a serial number label and a label showing the ATEX-related
Ex/CE marking obtained by the manufacturer for this instrument.
