Appendix D: Error Messages and Alarms
Error Code and Symbol Legend
Error Code Priority
Error codes are prioritized to display the most critical condition first. The
priority in order of importance is: L, F, and O.
Low Battery Power
The indication of low battery power appears in two stages. When the batteries
have discharged to a level less than 4.1 Volts, the first indicator appears as an
empty battery icon.
After a few minutes, the HandiLaz Mini will stop sampling and saving data.

Stop sampling and, if problem persists, contact
your Particle Measuring Systems representative.

Flow rate

The flow of sample through the HandiLaz Mini is
out-of tolerance (2.83 L/min. ±5%). If a filter and/
or connecting tube are attached to the inlet, remove
them. Check to see if sample inlet or tubing is
obstructed. If the “F” symbol persists, contact your
Particle Measuring Systems representative.
O
Maximum
measurable
concentration
The sample’s particle concentration is greater than
allowable for the HandiLaz Mini. Stop sampling.
Run unit with zero filter to clean sample chamber.
M
Printer buffer
full
Turn printer OFF, the repeat normal printer
operation.
Low battery
power
The remaining battery power is less than 4.1 V.
Immediately replace the batteries with fully
charged batteries, or
start operating HandiLaz Mini with its power
convertor.
