700-00028-0, DFC-4 Fan Driver Unit.
Parker Hannifin
have long recognized the need for driver electronics which are reasonably priced, easy to apply, mechanically
sound and can be utilized in many differing environments and with a wide range of proportional products.
T
he ideal is to keep product variation to a minimum which will reduce inventory as well as allowing commissioning engineers, system
designers and machine operators to become familiar with a limited range of connections and adjustments which will improve overall
efficiency, confidence in the electronic and hydraulic components and once comfortable with the operation and parameters, will
generate proven electro-hydraulic ‘building-blocks’ which can be used time and time again without extra design or production time
being wasted on learning a new product.
T
his industry and application unique fan drive system controller is specifically designed for
direct connection to the engine control
unit ( ECU )
having a proportional pulse width modulated ( PWM ) output for fan speed control and can be used to directly drive
12VDC or 24VDC coiled valves requiring upto 1300ma drive current.
The 700-00028-0 uses the latest internal component and circuit design technology to give
full CE compliance
to present
EMC
directives to ensure maximum operational potential and efficiency, while offering a full IP66 ( NEMA 6P ) rating in
one
robust and easy
to apply package.
T
his versatile controller has been designed to allow users access to an extremely cost effective system driver device while ensuring
that the valve product is controlled to the optimized characteristic originally designed by the factory.
T
he small size and NEMA 6P / IP66 rating of this unit allows internal or external applications to be approached with confidence that
some other drivers of this type cannot allow.
T
he following ‘application hints’ for this versatile driver unit are only issued as a guide and if required, further help and /or advice
should be sought from your local distributor or from Parker internal sales departments.
This driver unit has been designed to interface and operate with:-
•
Wide supply range 10VDC to 32VDC
( ALWAYS select valve coil voltage to match application supply voltage )
.

Introduction:
T
o keep pace with the changing laws on environmental issues, new legislation regarding engine efficiency while also reducing
machine operating costs, the award winning Parker fan drive systems ( FDS) program has now produced a NEW iteration of the
controller aimed specifically at Uni-directional, simple cooling systems. By using the 700-00028-0 controller unit and for example, one
of the Parker hydraulic motors with integral valving, the cooling system becomes an easy to apply two part system where the fan
speed is directly controlled by the engine control unit ( ECU ) PWM output.
T
he ECU, pwm output typically operates from 5% to 95% pulse width based on a +10v to +32v maximum system voltage. The PWM
frequency can vary from different engine manufacturers and the 700-00028-0 can accept frequencies from 20hz to 125hz without
any adjustment required by the operator.
