13.6
Braking your electric wheelchair
In order to guarantee the highest possible level of safety, the PARAVAN electric wheelchair uses two braking
(safety) systems that work independently of each other. The functions of each of these safety systems are
as follows:

Safety during travel:
By releasing the joystick (the joystick will always return to its neutral position in the middle) during travel,
the motor brake engages automatically and brakes the electric wheelchair.

Safety where power fails or cuts out:
If the supply of current should become interrupted – e.g. by a the battery losing its charge – the magne

tic safety brake is triggered and the electric wheelchair will come to a stop. Where this happens it can
only be released again mechanically and moved manually.
