Appendix A: Ethernet Interface Quick Set-Up
This section describes the procedure for setting up the RM SSPA Ethernet IP interface
through the front panel interface. It also describes basic network setup of a Windows
based host PC for a peer-to-peer network connection with the RM SSPA.
Important! Do not use a crossover cable to connect to the network hub, use crossover
only for direct PC-to-RM SSPA connection!
1. Connect J6 Ethernet Port of the RM SSPA controller to a host PC through a cross-
over null-modem network cable (see Appendix B) for wiring details.
2. If the PC NIC card has not previously been set, do so now using the following proce-
dure, otherwise skip to Step 3.
2.1 From Windows Control Panel select Network icon;
2.2 Select TCP/IP properties of your LAN card. The window shown in
Figure A-1
will
appear:
2.3 Select "Specify an IP Address". And enter the following parameters in the IP ad-
dress and Subnet fields:
IP Address……………:192.168.0.3
Subnet Mask………….:255.255.255.0
After you press "OK", depending on the operating system, you may need to reboot the
workstation.
