Muting the volume
Press [MUTING].
Volume is reduced to minimum.
To cancel
Press [MUTING] again or reduce the volume to minimum (--dB),
then raise it to the required level.
Muting is also canceled when you switched the unit to standby.
Auto-off function
When disc or tape is selected as the source
To save power, the unit turns off if it is left unused for ten minutes.
This function does not work if the source is tuner or AUX.
Press [SHIFT] + [AUTO OFF].
“AUTO OFF” is shown on the main unit’s display.
The setting is maintained even if the unit is turned off.
If you select tuner or AUX as the source, “AUTO OFF” goes out. It
comes on again when you select disc or tape.
To cancel
Press [SHIFT]+[AUTO OFF] again.
Dimming the display
Press [SHIFT] + [DIMMER].
To return to the original brightness, press [SHIFT]+[DIMMER] again.
Changing the main unit’s display
Press [DISP MODE] to select the desired display mode.
Every time you press the button:
Peak hold
Normal
(off)
Reflection
Using other equipment
Using headphones
1 Reduce the volume and connect the headphones (not
included).
Headphone plug type: 3.5 mm stereo
2 Adjust headphone volume with [VOLUME DOWN, UP]
on the main unit.
Note
Avoid listening for prolonged periods of time to prevent hearing
damage.
Operating a television
Point the remote control at the television for the following operations.
Turning the television on/off

Note
Some models cannot be operated by this remote control.
Changing the main unit and remote control mode
The remote control and main unit are factory-set to “REMOTE 1”
mode.
If your remote control affects other equipment during operation, you
can switch to operate in “REMOTE 2” mode.
To switch to “REMOTE 2” mode

While pressing and holding [AUX] on the main unit
Press and hold [2] until “REMOTE 2” appears on the
main unit display.

Press and hold [ENTER] and [2] for at least 2
seconds.
The main unit and remote control are now set to operate in
“REMOTE 2” mode.
To return to “REMOTE 1” mode
Do steps
1
and

above but use [1] instead of [2] for both steps.
(“REMOTE 1” appears on the main unit during step

The remote control cannot work with the main unit if their
modes are different.
“REMOTE 1” or “REMOTE 2” appears on the main unit display when
you operate the remote control.
If “REMOTE 1” appears (The main unit is in “REMOTE 1” mode.)
Press and hold [ENTER] and [1] on the remote control for at least
2 seconds.
If “REMOTE 2” appears (The main unit is in “REMOTE 2” mode.)
Press and hold [ENTER] and [2] on the remote control for at least
2 seconds.
Note
You can still operate a television using the remote control (

see
above) even after switching the mode.
Using an external unit
You can connect an analog player with a built-in phono equalizer.
