9.2.1. Cautions to be taken during replacement of optical pickup
Optical pickup could be damaged due to the static electricity discharged from human body. Wear
proper protection gear against static electricity during optical pickup and its peripheral repair.
(Refer to the section regarding protection against static electricity.)
1. Do not touch laser diode, actuator and their peripherals.
2. Do not check laser diode with a tester and such. (The tester will be
destroyed.)
3. For short-circuiting or removing laser diode, the use of an anti-
static soldering iron is recommended. / (Recommended model:
HAKKO ESD product)
4. Solder the land of the flexible cable in the optical pickup.
