Cautions as to the display
of this unit
Common
¡
High bit rate and high sampling frequency are recom-
mended for high quality sounds.
¡
Selecting VBR (Variable Bit Rate) is not recommended
because playing time is not displayed properly and
sound may be skipped.
¡
The playback sound quality differs depending on the
encoding circumstances. For details, refer to the user
manual of your own encoding software and writing
software.
¡
Be sure to put an extension compatible with the for-
mat.
¡
It is recommended that the length of the file name is
less than 8 characters (excluding the file extension).
MP3
¡
It is recommended to set the bit rate to “128 kbps or
more” and “fixed”.
DivX
¡
DivX files greater than 2 GB or having no index may
not play properly on this unit.
¡
This unit supports all resolutions up to maximum of
720 x 480 (NTSC)/720 x 576 (PAL).
¡
You can select up to 8 types of audios and subtitles
on this unit.
¡
GMC (Global Motion Compensation) is not supported.
Caution
Never put “.mp3” to other than MP3-formatted data or “.DIVX”, “.divx”, “.AVI”, and “.avi” to
other than DivX-formatted data. This may not only produce noise from the speaker damage, but
also damage your hearing.

Compression method
Compression formats
* DivX video system/MP2, MP3
MP3:
MP3 (MPEG Audio Layer-3) is the compression
format of digital audio. It is developed by MPEG (Motion
Picture Experts Group). Using this compression format,
the contents of about 10 music CDs can be recorded on a
single CD (This figure refers to data recorded on a 650
MB CD-R or CD-RW at a fixed bit rate of 128 kbps and a
sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz).
DivX:
The video compression format developed by DivX,
Inc. compresses video files without any considerable loss
of video quality.
Note:
Each of the encoding software programs is not
included with this unit.
