First-time Operation
When using the files in the following folders available on the retail version of the Windows 95
CD-ROM, it is necessary to run a separate file decompression program.

\datalink
\drivers
\help
\other
To uncompress the file, it is necessary to have about 75 MB of free disk space on the hard disk.
The floppy disk drive (CF-VFDU01)*

and the port replicator (CF-VEB341)*

to connect the
FDD, and a CD-ROM drive (purchased separately) are necessary. Create the “FIRSTAID FD”
with the CD-ROM drive in use.

File decompression method:
Turn off the computer.
Attach the port replicator

, floppy disk drive, and CD-ROM drive.
Insert the FIRSTAID FD.
Turn on the computer.
At the confirmation message, select [No].
Insert the Product Recovery CD-ROM.
At the prompt, input the following:
L:\en\addfile
Enter
Follow the message on the screen.
After this program is executed, the contents of the above folders will be decompressed to
the c:\util\win95add folder.

When the computer fails to work properly or system files on the hard disk are deleted, the
computer can be returned to factory condition by performing the "Reinstallation" procedure.
Important: To perform the "Reinstallation" procedure (
page21), it is necessary to create a
backup disk prior to any trouble. (

A backup disk cannot be created after reinstallation becomes necessary. Therefore, be sure to
create a backup disk soon after purchasing your computer, and store the disk in a safe location
along with the supplied Windows 95 System Pack.
