Recording (continued)
By making HD-SDI/1394 connection to a camera recorder equipped with an external device control
function, the unit can be made to start recording, pause recording, etc. by the camera recorder. For
details on devices compatible with HD-SDI connection and settings on this unit, refer to “AUTO REC” on
the setting menu “RECORDING SETUP” (Page 91).
Also, refer to the operating instructions of the camera recorder.
Recording is not available in PC mode (Page 25).
The unit does not support native recordings.
Before recording, check that video signals are being input.
If the input signal format changes during recording, recording does not proceed properly.
Do not stop the signal output at the external device or disconnect the device’s cable during recording.
Otherwise, the device may not recognize signals when recording is undertaken again.
Do not start recording in the condition that invalid signals or continuously distorted signals are input. The
device may not operate normally.
When time information data identification code (DBB1) in SLTC or SVITC superimposed onto SDI input
signals is lost or ON/OFF is switched during EE/recording, the images may be distorted at those timings.

The followings are restrictions when 1394 input is selected.
No signals are recorded if the same video signals as those for recording format are not input.
Recording in AVC-Intra100 and AVC-Intra50 formats is not possible.
Recording sound is 4ch for DVCPRO HD input (Page 118).
-slot continuous recording
If P2 cards have been inserted into both of the P2 card slots, you can continuously record images first
on one card and then on the other. While images are being recorded on one card, you can replace the
other card with a fresh card and in this way record continuously onto 3 or more cards. (This is called hot
swap recording.) However, the fresh P2 card may not be recognized when it is inserted into the empty
slot at certain timings (Before and after when recording continuously from one slot to the other). It is
recommended that you insert a fresh P2 card while the card on which images are being recorded still has
at least one minute of remaining memory.
When “SLOT SEL” is assigned to [USER] for the USER1-3 items (Page 97) on the setting menu “SW
MODE”, you can change the slot targeted for recording at the touch of a button.
Changing slots is not possible while recording is in progress, so do this in the recording standby status.
The unit does not support hot swap playback.
Waveform monitor (WFM) displays
You can display the simplified waveform monitor on screen, and monitor the images.
The monitor can be displayed when the “WFM” item on the setting menu “DISPLAY SETUP” screen is set.
When “WFM” is assigned to [USER] for the USER1-3 items (Page 97) on the setting menu “SW MODE”:
When the “WFM” setting on “DISPLAY SETUP” is “OFF”
Each time the button is pressed, the setting is switched as follows: “WAVE”→“VECTOR”→“OFF”→
“WAVE”.
When the “WFM” setting on “DISPLAY SETUP” is “WAVE”
Each time the button is pressed, the setting is switched as follows: “WAVE”→“OFF”→“WAVE”.
When the “WFM” setting on “DISPLAY SETUP” is “VECTOR”
Each time the button is pressed, the setting is switched as follows: “VECTOR”→“OFF”→“VECTOR”.
The output with superimposed WFM is linked to the selection on the setting menu “OSD OUT SEL”.
The display appears during clip playback and when input signals are being supplied.
