HLU-431 List 1E
24-Hour ES
The number of one second intervals that contained at least one CRC error. This value is a running
total of the last 24 Hours.
24-Hour UAS
The number of seconds the HDSL loop was out of sync.
24-Hour BPV Seconds
The number of seconds in which at least one bipolar violation was detected on the DS1 input over
a 24-hour period.
24-Hour UAS Count
The number of seconds during which the DS1 input signal was absent (125 or more consecutive
0s) over a 24-hour period.
Frame type
Type of DS1 framing used on the input stream (SF or ESF).
Code type
Type of DS1 line coding used (AMI, B8ZS, AMI: ZBTSI or B8ZS: ZBTSI). The latter two conditions
indicate the code type that is being received when HiGain is set to its ZBTS1 mode. In either the
AMI or B8ZS DS1 code mode, it displays the selected code as opposed to the code type that is
actually being received.

HLU-431 Status Menu Messages: Alarms
Message
Full Name
Description
NONE
No Alarms
LLOS
Local Loss of Signal
No signal from HLU-231 List 1E local T1 interface.
RLOS
Remote Loss of Signal
No signal from HRU-412 remote T1 interface.
LOSW1(2) Loss of Sync Word 1(2)
HDSL loop 1 or 2 has lost sync.
H1ES
HDSL Loop 1 Errored Second
Loop 1 CRC have exceeded the ES threshold.
H2ES
HDSL Loop 2 Errored Second
Loop 2 CRC have exceeded the ES threshold.
DS1
Digital Service 1
BPVs for either the HLU-231 List 1E or HRU-412 DS1 input have exceeded the user
selected ES threshold.
R(L)AIS
Remote (Local) Alarm
Indicating Signal
Indicates an AIS (all “1”) pattern is being transmitted from the remote (local) T1
output port.
MAL1
Margin Alarm 1
The margin on HDSL loop 1 has dropped below the threshold (1 to 15 dB) set by the
user. Setting the threshold to 0 inhibits the margin alarm.
MAL2
Margin Alarm 2
The margin on HDSL loop 2 has dropped below the threshold (1 to 15 dB) set by the
user. Setting the threshold to 0 inhibits the margin alarm.
CHREV
Channels Reversed
The Loop 1 and Loop 2 HDSL pairs are reversed at the HDU-451 or HRU-412 line
input ports. Loop 1 is specified to carry the (-) simplex DC voltage, and Loop 2 is
specified to carry (+) simplex DC voltage.
SMJK
Smart-Jack Loopback
Loopback at HRU-412 remote towards network initiated by (2 in 5) in-band loopback
code or out-of-band ESF data link code (Figure 15).
NREM
Network Remote Loopback
Loopback at HRU-412 (remote) towards network initiated from CO (network) by
Intelligent Line Repeater (ILR) #2 code, HLU-231 front panel MANUAL LOOPBACK
push-buttons, HRU-412 front panel push-button, or maintenance terminal (Figure
15).
NLOC
Network Local Loopback
Loopback at HLU-231 List 1E (local) towards network initiated from C0 by IOR code,
HLU-231 front panel MANUAL LOOPBACK push-buttons or maintenance terminal
(Figure 15).
