Safety instructions
Get to know your log saw
: Read the manual thoroughly and make sure you understand the
manual and labels on the machine. Learn how the machine is used and its limitations, as well
as the potential dangers which may arise when operating the machine.
Inspecting the log saw
: Always check the log saw before using it. Make sure the guards are
fitted correctly and they are ready for use. Make it a habit to check that spanners and other
tools are removed from the area before switching on the machine. Replace damaged parts
before use. NEVER remove the saw blade guard and NEVER touch the saw blade. NEVER use
the machine without all the guards installed – you may be cut. NEVER use the log saw without
first making sure that the movable part of the safety guard can move freely and that the
locking mechanism works.
Safety equipment:
Log saws can fling material into the user's eyes. This can cause
permanent eye damage. Always use safety goggles. Regular glasses do not provide sufficient
protection against eye damage. We also recommend using ear protectors. Always wear safety
gloves when handling the saw blade. Always use non-slip footwear.
Saw blades:
Always make sure you use the correct saw blade for the task. Never use blades
whose maximum speed is less than the log saw's maximum speed. Never use damaged saw
blades or blades that are too big. Make sure the saw blade's direction indicator matches the
motor's direction of rotation.
Avoid electric shock:
Make sure the power socket is adequately fused and that it matches
the power, output and frequency of the motor. Make sure the socket is earthed and
connected with an RCD.
Make sure the log saw has an earth connection.
Never open the
push button box on the motor. This must only be opened by an authorised electrician.
Do not force the saw:
The log saw will work better and more safely if it is allowed to work as
intended. If the saw blade sticks or jams in the wood, switch off the machine immediately. Do
not use the saw for anything other than its intended purpose – the sawing of logs.
Never leave the log saw unattended when switched on:
Never leave the log saw before it
has stopped completely.
Remove the cable from the socket:
Always remove the log saw cable from the socket
before making any adjustments, replacing parts, cleaning or servicing. Never disconnect the
power while the saw is braking, as this may damage the motor. Always read the manual
before servicing.
Risk of cutting injuries:
Only open the safety guard to insert/replace the blade. Never open
the guard while the blade is still rotating or if the plug is in the socket. NEVER insert your
fingers/hands into the guard opening!
NEVER insert your fingers/hands in the gap between
the fixed guard or the moveable guard!
Use:
The log saw must stand on a firm, level surface, so it remains steady and secure during
sawing. The saw blade must not be in contact with the wood or other objects when starting
the machine. Make sure the wood does not contain nails, screws or similar items that may
