•
Avoid poor working postures at all times. Ensure at all times that you are
standing on a safe and stable place when welding. Use the harness when
working at heights.
•
Never hang cables over or around the body.
•
Use a helmet/visor that covers the whole face with the correct colour for
welding.
•
Use suitable protective workwear and gloves to protect the skin from heat and
UV and IR radiation.
•
Never overload the equipment and allow it to cool down properly between
tasks.
•
Keep your hands and fingers away from moving parts and keep your distance
from the feeder rollers.
•
Always use the equipment in accordance with the operating instructions to
avoid overheating and thus any operating interruptions.
Special hazards:
Electric shock
WARNING
Electric arc appliances can generate electric shocks that can cause injury or
death. Contact with the electrical elements can cause a fatal electric shock
and serious burns. When welding, all of the metal components that are
connected to the wire will become hot. A poor earth connection is a hazard. Ensure
that the earth connection is correct before beginning to weld.
•
Use dry, protective workwear: Coat, jacket, gloves and safety shoes.
•
Never come into contact with the component that must be welded or with the
earth connection.
•
Do not attempt to repair or maintain the equipment while it is switched on.
•
Inspect all cables and leads for any exposed wire. Replace cables and leads
immediately if they have exposed wire or are defective.
•
Use only approved cables and leads.
•
Always connect the earth clamp to the item or workbench as closely as possible
to the welding site.
•
Never touch the welding wire or the earth or the earthed item.
•
Never use the welding torch to defrost frozen pipes.
