IMPORTANT
Check the drive system. Start the engine and set the throttle to FAST. Engage and
disengage the trimmer head several times. Make sure the trimmer head stops
completely when disconnected. If the trimmer head continues to rotate, the machine
should be checked by a professional.
Storage
WARNING
Do not store the machine indoors with fuel in the tank. Never store the
machine in an enclosed area with poor ventilation, where vapours could reach an
open flame, a spark or a pilot light, for example on a stove, water heater or tumble
dryer. Always allow the engine to cool down before storing away the machine.
WARNING
Do not empty the tank indoors, near a fire or while smoking. Petrol vapours
can cause a fire or an explosion.
IMPORTANT
: It is important to avoid deposits forming in fuel system parts such as
the carburettor, fuel filter, hose and tank during storage.
If the machine is to be stored for more than 30 days, follow the procedure below to
ensure that the machine is in good condition and ready for use when a new season
starts.
1.
Let the engine run until the petrol is exhausted.
2.
Change the oil as instructed in the section “Changing the oil”.
3.
Remove the spark plug from the cylinder and pour about 30 ml of oil into the hole.
Slowly pull the starter lever so that the oil is distributed in the cylinder. Insert a new
spark plug in the cylinder.
4.
Remove dirt and deposits from the cylinder cooling fins and engine housing.
5.
Clean the machine and remove dirt, grease, leaves, etc.
6.
Check the machine for loose and damaged parts. Replace parts as required.
7.
Retighten all loose joints.
8.
Lubricate the parts as instructed in the “Maintenance” section. Lubricate metal parts
on the machine with a thin layer of rustproofing oil.
