Adjusting the table insert

The way that the table insert is positioned depends on whether a

straight cut or bevel cut is required. Incorrect positioning can result in

damaging the table insert and damaged or broken blades.

•    For a straight cut the table

insert opening must be

positioned as shown.

1.   Remove the table insert, by pushing up from the bottom of the table.
2.   Position the opening of the table insert  depending on the cutting

application required.

3.   Align the 4 grooves in the table insert with the lugs on the table and

gently push into place.

Adjusting the height

To prevent the workpiece from lifting, the

work piece holder should be adjusted so it

just sits on top of the workpiece. The work

piece holder should not be adjusted so

tightly that the workpiece drags.
1.   Loosen the work piece holder

lock knob.

2.   Lower or raise the work piece holder

to the desired position.

3.   Retighten the work piece holder lock

knob.

Adjusting the angle

When bevel cutting the work piece holder must be adjusted so it is

parallel to the table (as described in “

Bevel Cutting

”).

Adjusting blade tension

Lift the blade tension lever to

“Release” the blade tension

•    Tension (or tighten) the blade further

by turning the blade tension lever

clockwise.

•    Release (or loosen) the blade

further by turning the blade tension

lever anti-clockwise.

Tighten the blade with the clamp lever

by pressing down again. Check tension

by the sound the blade makes when

plucking the blade, similar to plucking

a guitar string. This requires good

knowledge of your scroll saw.

•    Pluck the back edge of the blade. The sound should be a musical

note. The sound becomes less flat as tension increases.

The sound level will decrease with too much tension.

Note:

Be careful as over tension may cause the blade to break as soon

as you start cutting. Too little tension may cause the blade to bend or

break.

Sawdust blower

The variable speed scroll saw features a

sawdust blower to direct air to the most

effected point on the cutting line. The blower

tube is fully adjustable and can be directed

as required.

Flexible worklight

The worklight will illuminate the work area

for greater visibility of the cutting line.

1.   Press the flexible worklight switch to the

On (I) position.

2.   The light will illuminate when the saw is

turned on by pushing the green On (I)

button. The light cannot be operated without the saw running

3. ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING!

 ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE VARIABLE

SPEED SCROLL SAW IS SWITCHED OFF AND

DISCONNECT FROM MAINS POWER SUPPLY BEFORE

MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS

•    For a bevel cut the table

insert openings must be

positioned as shown.
