For an all-windows 2000/XP computer network environment or only Windows PC will
share the NASPerform, we recommend you to format it to NTFS. However, if your NAS-
Perform will be shared between both MacOSX and Windows computer, you have to
format it to FAT32. Standard Windows Disk Management described next will allow you
to format hard drive up to 30GB into FAT32, and hard drive larger than 30GB into only
NTFS. If FAT32 must be used in hard drive larger than 30GB, you should refer to previous
section “Under MacOSX” to use Disk Utility, or use a third party PC software Swissknife
from www.compuapps.com to do FAT32 format.
To format the hard drive in your NASPerform, please disconnect your NASPerform from
the network and connect it to a Windows 2000/XP PC with USB cable.
If you can see a new entry under Disk drives of Device Manager, you are ready to parti-
tion and format the drive.
Open Control panel, “Administrative Tools” and “Computer management”.
Click on “Disk Management”.
