5 Construction and function
5.1 Summary and functions description
The double regulating and commissioning valves
“Aquastrom K” are straight pattern valves without de-
ad zone for use in cold water circulation systems.
Hydronic balance in a potable water circulation sy-
stem is guaranteed by the “Aquastrom K”. If the ma-
ximum temperature - adjustable between a minimum
of 6°C and a maximum of 18°C (item no. 4205904) or
between a minimum of 12°C and a maximum of 24°C
(item no. 4206304) - is exceeded, the valve opens
and the cold water circulation in the corresponding
section of the riser is increased until the temperature
set at the valve is reached again. If the set temperatu-
re is undercut, the volume flow returns to a residual
volume flow of kv=0.05. The restored hydronic balan-
ce guarantees a supply of the subsequent risers.
In order to avoid damage to the pipework and val-
ves or malfunctions caused by calcification, the
fitting of water treatment equipment is recommen-
ded if the potable water is strongly calcified. The
national guidelines must be observed!
NOTICE
The valve also serves the isolation of the riser for
maintenance or repair.
When used in conjunction with the accessories of the
“Aquastrom UP“ range, the “Aquastrom K” valves
can also be used for flush-mounted or front-wall in-
stallation or as lockshield model.

6 Installation and assembly
6.1 Installation
The pipework must be flushed thoroughly before in-
stallation of the valve. The valve may be installed in
any position (horizontal, oblique or vertical, in ascen-
ding or descending sections). It is important to note
that the direction of flow must conform to the arrow
on the valve body and that the valve must be installed
with L = 3 x Ø of straight pipe in the upstream side
and with L = 2 x Ø in the downstream pipe.
The pipework must be laid so that airlocks are avoi-
ded. Due to the low flow velocity, bacterial zones may
develop especially in the circulation return pipes.
– Bond insulation shells (supplied with the valve)
to avoid condensation and damage to the brick-
work!
– Do not use any lubricant or oil when installing
the differential pressure regulator as these may
destroy the seals. If necessary, all dirt particles
and lubricant or oil residues must be removed
from the pipework by flushing the latter.
– Please protect against external forces (e.g. im-
pacts, vibrations etc.).
