The control unit consumes standby current, which
means the batteries are gradually discharged during
extended periods of disuse. If the outdoor vehicle will
not be used for an extended period, Ottobock recom
mends removing the batteries and charging them every
6 months to maintain their capacity.

The outdoor vehicle control unit must be switched off
while the batteries are charging to allow all of the char
ging current to be fed into the battery.
7.4.4 Battery charger

Improper use of the battery charger
Damage to the battery charger, damage to the battery due
to user error

Only use battery chargers from Ottobock, which have
been verified and approved by the manufacturer for
use with the respective batteries (observe information
on the battery charger).
►
Ensure that the information on the battery charger rat
ing plate matches the country-specific voltage of the
respective mains grid.
►
Only use the battery charger within the specified tem
perature and humidity limits.
►
Place the battery charger on a level surface.
►
If you locate the battery charger near a window, pro
tect it from direct sunlight.
►
Avoid overheating of the battery charger. Do not cover
the ventilation slits in the case.
►
Switch the control unit off during the charging process
so that all of the charging current is fed into the bat
tery.
►
Avoid dust, dirt and moisture.
►
Only clean the battery charger with a dry cloth.
The battery charger is designed for maintenance-free and
low-maintenance batteries.

charger for further details on use and on the LED displays.
7.4.5 Charging the Battery

Ensure sufficient ventilation in enclosed spaces.

Don't smoke or light fires.
►
Sparks must be avoided.
►
Only use battery chargers which have been verified
and approved by Ottobock for use with the respective
batteries (observe information on the battery charger).
Non-observance may result in explosion of the battery,
resulting in a health hazard.
►
Follow the battery manufacturer safety instructions.
►
Allow the hot battery to cool down before charging.
