12 Adjustability / Assembly Instructions
Each wheelchair user would like the wheelchair to meet their expectations regarding the wheelchair
type, accessories, seating and handling.
Your Avantgarde wheelchair offers a number of options for adapting to your requirements. Work
together with your specialized dealer or therapist to determine which wheelchair settings work
best for you.
For repair and service, the following tools are required:
Allen wrench sizes: 4 mm, mm, 6 mm
Open-ended spanners sizes: 8 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, 12 mm, 1 mm, 19 mm, 24 mm
Screwdriver
Torque wrench
Tire lever
Please be careful whilst carrying out adjustments and/or assembly as there may be
a risk of injury.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The ultra-light Avantgarde Ti 8.9 and Ti Ultra wheelchairs for
active use have consistently been fabricated with a light-weight construction. For this reason,
any adjustments must be carried out carefully, preferably by your authorized Otto Bock dealer.
It is of particular importance that the torque values for all high-strength aluminum alloy screws
are observed (see table below, for the torque values for the aluminum screws).
If you do not possess the appropriate tools (e.g. torque wrench), please consult your specialized
dealer.

Before re-assembly and re-use of the aluminum screw connections, it must be ensured that the
threads are not damaged.
It is recommended to use new aluminum screws for each mounting.
Please use a liquid thread lock substance for securing the aluminum screws (e.g. Loctite 241).
