Revision B.03
The LRD-200B includes a frame detector that is used to detect the correct data
polarity for such PSK signals as NOAA HRPT. This detector also assists with
Viterbi recovery for punctured signals such as METOP.
The recovered bit clock and data are converted using interface drivers to provide
outputs in RS-422, LVDS, TTL and 50 ohm TTL formats.
All the programmable features of the LRD-200B
−
including control of the signal
attenuator, configuration of the digital demodulator parameters, selection of the
symbol decoding format, and sequencing
−
are controlled using an eight (8)-bit
microcomputer. The microcomputer also controls the operational display and the
setup buttons. It communicates to external devices through an RS-232 serial port, a
Lantronix Ethernet device, or a USB interface.
6.4 USB INTERFACE
Figure 40 - USB Interface
The LRD-200B contains a USB 2.0 high speed interface, which can be used to
control the demodulator and to transmit the recovered data to a computer.
The USB interface receives the data and clock signals provided to the electrical
interface. It converts the data to eight (8)-bit parallel form and then writes this data
into a FIFO (First In First Out) memory. When the computer requests data, that data
is read from the FIFO and then written to the USB bus.
Using the remote control protocol, the USB interface also enables the user to
control and to read status from the LRD-200B. Three pipes are available to send
control data to the LRD and to read status and data from the LRD. The LRD USB
interface requires a vendor-specific driver that corresponds to the computer
operating system for operation.
