Command Format
Commands begin with [
!
], which is followed by the command, a [
:
] parameter
separator, and optional [
;
] delimiters for a list of parameters. The command is
terminated with a return character, hex code
0x0D
, or in C,
\r
. A typical
command is shown in the following example:
!mode:GVAR<cr>
(where
<cr>
represents the return character)
Each command has a corresponding status request that begins with [
?
]. For
this example it is
?mode<cr>

Response Format
A command has three possible responses:
1.
A response to an unrecognized command
2.
A response for a recognized command with an invalid parameter
3.
A response to the corresponding status request.
Responses begin with the character [
!
] followed by a three (3)-digit numeric
code. The numeric code for valid command response is followed by a [
:
]
separator and a single alphanumeric status, or a [
;
] delimited list of
alphanumeric status values. Responses are terminated with a return – newline,
hex code
0x0D 0x0A
, or in C, [
\r
] [
\n
].
The three (3)-digit code begins with one (1) if the command is accepted, or
zero (0) if the command is not accepted. The following two (2) digits always
are zero (0) for an invalid or unrecognized command or status request. A valid
command or status request responses contain a two (2)-digit code unique to the
command or status response pair.

All command settings are retained in a non-volatile memory when
power is not applied.
