OPTIMOD-FM DIGITAL
OPERATION
3-93
If the preset, system file, or automation file was encrypted when it was
originally saved, PC Remote will request the password under which it was
encrypted.
All User Presets are compatible with all 8600S software versions and are compatible
with both 8600SHD and 8600SFM. If Orban adds new controls to a software version,
the new software will assign a reasonable default value to any control missing in an
old User Preset. If you archive such a User Preset after restoring it, the newly written
archive file will now include the new controls (with the default values, unless you
edit any of these values before you re-archive the preset).
If you load an archived 8600SHD preset file into an 8600SFM, the 8600SFM will
ignore all digital radio-specific parameters in the file.
If you load into an 8600SHD a User Preset that was originally archived from an
8600SFM, the 8600S will usually apply the digital radio parameters that the User
Preset inherited from its source Factory Preset. The main exception is a User Pre-
set that originally created in an 8600SHD, was then loaded into and modified by
an 8600SFM, and was finally loaded into an 8600SHD again. In this case, any HD
settings in the original 8600S User Preset are retained.
In addition, you can load archived preset files from OPTIMOD-FM 5500, 5700, 8400,
8500, and 8600. The 8600S supports all features on these processors except for
stand-alone stereo encoder mode in the 5500. 5500 and 8400 presets will sound very
similar on the 8600S. (They will not sound 100% identical because the base sample
rate of the 5500 and 8400 is 32 kHz and the base sample rate of the 8500 and 8600S
is 64 kHz.) 8500 and 8600 presets will sound identical when running on the 8600S.
