sive cleaners. Do not immerse the kettle, the base
unit, cord set or plug in water or liquid of any kind.
• This kettle feature a concealed heating element
which means it never comes into contact with the
water inside the kettle. This hygienic design not
only makes cleaning the inside of the kettle much
easier, it also keeps cleaning to a minimum.
• The filter inside the kettle needs to be cleaned
periodically, how often will vary according to
where you live and how often you use your kettle.
You should clean it whenever there are any notice-
able deposits left on the filter and especially if the
rate of pouring begins to reduce.
• Although the kettle is designed for the element to
remain scale free, in hard water areas scale may
still build up on the base. Descale regularly using
a proprietary descaler.
Cleaning the Filter
Removing/Refitting the Filter:
Important:
Before removing or refitting the filter,
switch the kettle off, let it cool down fully, and
unplug the power base.
To remove the filter:
• Empty the kettle and open the lid.
• Take hold of the top of the filter and pull upwards,
paying particular attention on how the filter
locates. The filter should slide out of the grooves
without having to use excessive force.
To clean the filter:
• Rinse under a tap whilst brushing with a soft
brush.
To refit the filter:
• Make sure that your hands are clean and free
from soap, cream or anything which might taint
the water.
• Holding the top of the filter replace the filter
ensuring the locking tab of the filter clicks into
position and the filter is located at each side of
the kettle.
Connection to the main supply
When using electrical appliances, basic safety pre-
cautions should always be followed.
Warning this appliance must be earthed.
If this appliance is fitted with a rewirable BS1363,
13 amp plug the fuse should be rated at 13 amp
and be ASTA approved to BS1362. However if the
plug is unsuitable, it should be dismantled and
removed from the supply cord and an appropriate
plug fitted as detailed below.
If the appliance is fitted with a moulded BS1363
13 amp plug the fuse should be rated at 13 amp
and be ASTA approved to BS1362. If the fuse in
a non-rewirable plug needs to be changed the fuse
cover must be disposed of immediately.
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliances may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
The wires of the mains lead are coloured in accor-
dance with the following code:
GREEN AND YELLOW-EARTH
BLUE-NEUTRAL
BROWN-LIVE
The wire which is coloured GREEN & YELLOW, must
be connected to the terminal in your plug which is
marked with the letter E or by the Earth symbol or
coloured GREEN or GREEN & YELLOW.
The wire which is coloured BLUE , must be connected
to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or
coloured BLACK.
The wire which is coloured BROWN, must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the let-
ter L or coloured RED.
If any other plug is used, a 13 amp fuse must be fit-
ted either in the plug or adaptor or at the distribution
board.
