with a 30 minute ‘rest’ periods, during which there is no charge current. During the 30 minute charge cycles
current is delivered only if the battery has lost charge as compared to the TEST result in STEP 9.
3. START - SUPPLY
The Supply mode provides a stable voltage of 13.6V to the motorcycle battery with up to 8A of current available,
to prevent the battery from losing charge during diagnosis/troubleshooting and/or when vehicle circuitry is
operated without the engine running.
The Supply mode compensates for voltage loss to ensure the diagnostic equipment is able to operate without
interuption. How-ever, only the resistance of the OptiMate's output cable and the O-14 connection accessory is
compensated for. Connect the OptiMate directly to the battery to avoid additional voltage loss.
The Supply mode is protected against reverse polarity connection, excessive current draw and warns when it is
unable to continue delivering power to a low voltage battery (below 11V).
IMPORTANT: The battery should be charged before using the Supply mode as diagnostic support.
A sufficiently charged battery should retain:
Standard 'wet cell' battery - 12.4V or higher.
Sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery - 12.6V or higher.
Lithium (LiFePO

) battery - 13.2V or higher.
a) Turn off AC power to the charger with rocker switch SW1. b) Connect the battery as described in section
B.
CONNECTING TO THE BATTERY.
c) Turn on AC power with rocker switch SW1.
WARNING: If LED #1a and 1b are blinking together the battery is connected in reverse polarity. Return to a).
d) The Su (LED #2) indicator will be on together with Pb (LED #1a) and LFP (LED #1b) selection indicators.

To select Su, press and release three times. Only the Su (LED #2) will
now indicate. If the connected battery's voltage is 11V or higher LEDs
#6, #7 and #8 will turn on, indicating the supply mode is active.
LED #6, #7, #8 = voltage at 13.6V, current draw below 8 Amps.
LED #7 & #8 = voltage between 12V & 13V, current draw is at
maximum.
LED #8 = voltage between 11V & 12V, current draw is at maximum.
LED #8 blinking = voltage below 11V. The Supply mode will be
interupted if the voltage has not risen above 11V within 2 minutes, or
immediately interupted if the voltage has dropped below 9V.
LED #2 SU blinking (& LED #6, #7 & #8 off) -
Indicates that a fault
condition such as reverse connected battery, a short circuit or overload
was detected, or AC power was interupted during Su mode. If necessary
correct the fault condition, then push and release the pushbutton. Output is restored when LED #2 (Su) turns full on
together with LEDs #6, 7 & 8.
WARNING: Supply mode (13.6V) remains active even if disconnected from battery. Do not touch clips
together. To turn off Supply (Su) mode, turn off AC power to the charger with rocker switch SW1.
