4.0 USInG THe STAnd
4.1 Illumination system
The ST-155 and ST-156 come with an integrated illumination system with incident and trans-
mitted light.
before starting, read the section 5.3 about electrical safety precautions. Then, insert the
power cable into the plug on the rear and press the On/OFF switch.
use the brightness adjustment knobs to control the light intensity (separately for incident and
transmitted illuminators).
The incident LEd illuminator can be oriented in order to obtain the best condition of light.
The base is equipped with two clips that can be used to block the specimen.
4.2 Focus
Put the sample to be observed on the stage plate and adjust the zoom to the desired value
on the optical head.
Try to focus the sample using the focusing knobs of the stand. On the ST-156 model you can
also fine-adjust the focus through the coaxial knob.
