If you would like to use the sensor freely floating, you must equip both the
sensor and the cable with floats. The cable must not sink or touch the ground.
You may remove the preassembled float and use your own.
FISHING FROM A BOAT OR FROM THE ICE
From
a
boat
You may use the sensor free-floating, on the boat hull or through the boat
hull. If you want to use the sensor through the boat hull, there must be no air
between sensor and sleeve. For this purpose, petroleum gel must be used and
the sensor pressed against the hull.
From the ice
For the best sensor performance, it is recommended that you cut a hole in the
ice. If you want to check the water depth or fish before cutting, look for a flat
surface, remove the snow, pour some water onto the ice, put the sensor on and
let it freeze. If air bubbles are in the ice or between the sensor and the ice, this
method will not work.
