Questions and Answers on Blood Pressure
The blood pressure measured at home is higher than
that measured at the doctor's office.
1. Those taking depressors tend to be under the influence of the medication.
When the effect of medication is lost, the blood pressure may increase.
......Consult your doctor.
2. The wrist cuff is wrapped loosely.
If the wrist cuff is wrapped loosely, the pressure is not well transmitted
to the artery; therefore, the blood pressure tends to be measured higher
than usual.
......Wrap the wrist cuff so that there should be no space between the
wrist cuff and your wrist. (Refer to Page 8.)
3. You are not taking correct posture when measuring blood pressure.
In the measuring posture such as humpbacked, sitting with your leg
crossed, or sitting on the sofa or at the low table with slouching, blood
pressure cannot be measured correctly because the posture gives
abdominal pressure or makes the normal operation of Position Sensor
function impossible.
......Measure in correct posture. (Refer to Page 9.)
The blood pressure values measured at home are lower
than those measured at the doctor's office.
Blood pressure values measured at home may be lower than those
measured at doctor's office by 20 to 30 mmHg. This is because you feel
tense when measured at the doctor's office and you feel relaxed when
measuring at your home. It is important to know the stable blood pressure
values measured at home.
Furthermore, if the position of the wrist cuff is higher than the level of your
heart when measuring blood pressure, blood pressure values may be
indicated lower. Refer to "Correct Posture" (Refer to Page 9.) and "How to
Measure Blood Pressure" (Refer to Page 10.)
My blood pressure values fluctuate each time I measure.
Blood pressure fluctuates from day to day and minute to minute. If you
measure continuously, you will notice that blood pressure fluctuates even
in a day. In addition, blood pressure may fluctuate depending on the
measuring posture or how the wrist cuff is wrapped. Wrap the wrist cuff
correctly, take a correct posture, and measure under the same conditions
at any time.
