Cover the end of the cable with electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing as
shown in the following diagram.

Connecting Communications Cables

Remove the connector from the Board’s DeviceNet Communications Con-
nector. (It isn’t necessary to remove the connector from the Board if it can
be wired in place.)
2.
Orient the connector properly and then insert the lines in order from left to
right: black, blue, shield, white, and then red.
Note
(1) Loosen the screws for securing the connector wires before inserting sig-
nal lines, power lines, or the shield wire. If the screws are not loosened
sufficiently, the wires cannot be inserted into the correct position. They
will enter the gap at the back where they cannot be secured in place.
(2) The connector and Board have colored stickers that match the wire col-
ors. The wire colors can be checked against the sticker color to check that
the cables are wired correctly.
