Output Pulse Duration
A Digital Output that is configured to have an Output Pulse Duration turns ON
immediately and will stay ON for the specified Pulse Duration. After the Pulse
Duration has elapsed the Digital Output turns OFF.
Note
The status of the Outputs is reflected in CIO (words n+14, n+15). If a Digital Out-
put is configured to have Programmable Output Pulse functionality, the actual
physical status of the Output (Turn ON Delay and/or Pulse Duration included) is
reflected in the corresponding bit in CIO.
Configuring Programmable
Output Pulses
Note
1. A Digital Output to which an Output ON-Delay or Output Pulse is applied will
turn OFF immediately after the corresponding Output (0-3) of the Output Pat-
tern has turned OFF. An Output Pulse ON-Delay or Output Pulse Duration in
progress will be reset immediately and the Digital Output is turned OFF or stays
OFF.
2. If an Output is switched ON manually (refer to 3-5-3
)
and Programmable Output Pulse functionality has been assigned to that Out-
put, then this functionality will not be applied to the Output. Instead, the Output
is switched ON immediately.
3 Once the output has turned OFF after the specified pulse duration, the status
in CIO n+14/n+15 may differ from the internal UNIT OUTPUT PATTERN (refer
to 3-5 "Output Control") where the output may still be ON.
Referring to 3-5-1-1 "Range Mode Overview" this implies that the output will
stay OFF while the counter value is still inside the range that activated the out-
put or, before leaving the current range, enters a new range that activate the
output because the output is already ON in the internal UNIT OUTPUT PAT-
TERN. If you want the output to generate an output pulse again, the counter
value first needs to exit all ranges that set this output. Only this way the output
is turned OFF in the UNIT OUTPUT PATTERN.
Referring to 3-5-2-1 "Comparison Mode Overview" this implies that the output
will not turn ON if a comparison value (e.g. the same comparison value that
caused the output to turn ON) is crossed that would set this output because the
output is already ON in the internal UNIT OUTPUT PATTERN. If you want the
output to generate an output pulse again, the counter value first needs a new
event (e.g. cross a comparison value) that resets this output. Only this way the
output is turned OFF in the UNIT OUTPUT PATTERN.
