HAND-PULSE SENSORS
The sensors integrated at both sides (right and left) in the
grips measure your current pulse rate. For a precise meas-
urement, the palms of your hands (right and left) must be
placed on the sensor areas. Your pulse rate is displayed
after approx. 30 – 60 seconds. If you only place one hand
on the sensor, it is impossible to measure your heart beat
precisely, and this makes the measurement imprecise. To
improve hand pulse measurement, slightly moisten your
hands.
For healthy exercise, check your pulse rate at regular
intervals. In case of exercise equipment without integrated
pulse measurement, you should press the index and mid-
dle fingers on your right hand against your left wrist to
do so. Formula: count your heart beat for 15 seconds and
multiply this value by four. This gives you your pulse rate
per minute. Compare this with the adjacent heart beat
frequency (bpm) table to discover your limits. Our advice:

This gives you ECG-precision pulse measurement. Ask your
dealer for details.
Never overdo exercise at the beginning; instead, increase
gradually.
Make sure that you use the correct intensity.

This ensures an optimum measurement of your pulse rate.
HEART BEAT TARGET FREQUENCY
Warning: The heart beat measurement can be impaired
by movement, friction and
sweat. This value should
thus not be used for medical
applications or evaluations,
but simply as an orientation
value.
Special impediments such as
use of a pacemaker or other
medical implants must be
discussed with your doctor
prior to using the sensors.
The heart beat frequency recommended by leading sport
medicine specialists is 60 to 80 % of your maximum achiev-
able heart frequency during exercise. This range is calcu-
lated by reference to your age and the exercise duration.
As a rule of thumb, the older you are, the lower the target
range will be.
