8.2 Troubleshooting guide

The following table shows the possible causes of and countermeasures against troubles that may
occur due to equipment setting errors or deterioration of consumables. If the irregularity cannot be
solved after checking the following table, have this instrument repaired by following Section 8.3,
“Returning this instrument for repair”.

Troubleshooting guide
Irregularity description
Possible cause
Solution
The filter selector knob does
not work.
The IR Filter Unit is connected
improperly to the surgical microscope.
Connect the IR Filter Unit as described
in Chapter 3, “Installation and
Connection”.
The imaging mode changes
unexpectedly.
The filter selector knob is moved to
another position.
Set the desired imaging mode as
described in Section 6.2, “Operation of
IR imaging mode”.
If the trouble still persists, set the filter
selector knob to “WLI” and the spare
lamp selector lever of the LED light
source to “SPARE LAMP”.
Part of microscopic image is
not displayed on the
observation monitor.
The filter selector knob is in an
intermediate position.
Set the desired imaging mode as
described in Section 6.2, “Operation of
IR imaging mode”.
IR imaging is impossible.
The LED light source was turned ON
after the surgical microscope.
Always turn the LED light source ON
before setting the power switch of the
surgical microscope to ON.
The surgical microscope was activated
while the filter selector knob was in a
position other than “WLI”.
Always set the filter selector knob to
“WLI” before setting the power switch of
the surgical microscope to ON.
The IR imaging mode is not selected.
Set the filter selector knob properly to
select the IR imaging mode.
The spare lamp selector lever of the
LED light source is set to “SPARE
LAMP”.
Set the spare lamp selector lever to
“LAMP” by referring to the instruction
manual for the LED light source.
The surgical microscope and LED light
source are connected improperly.
Connect the surgical microscope and
LED light source properly by referring to
their instruction manuals.
The IR Imaging Unit is connected
improperly to the LED light source.
Connect the IR imaging unit to the LED
light source as described in Chapter 3,
“Installation and Connection”.
The IR Filter Unit is connected
improperly to the surgical microscope.
Connect the IR Filter Unit as described
in Chapter 3, “Installation and
Connection”.
