MAINTENANCE
7.1 CLEANING THE PRINT HEAD AND NOZZLES
A print head initialization is performed periodically during printer operation. This operation consists of
cleaning the print head nozzles to make sure that the ink flows freely.
If the print quality is still unacceptable even after the automatic cleaning of the nozzles, remove the print
head and clean it as follows:
-
Press the CARRIAGE key to move the print head carriage to the print head installation position.
-
Lift the top cover, release and remove the print head.
-
Clean the electrical contacts on the print head and in its slot using a lint-free damp cloth and avoiding to
touch the nozzles.
-
Reinsert the print head into the printer, close the printer top cover and press the CARTRIDGE key to return
the carriage to its parking position.
If the print quality does not improve, try cleaning the nozzles on the print head.
Proceed as follows to clean the nozzles:
-
Dampen a cloth with distilled water and then wring the cloth to get rid of any excess water.
-
Remove the print head from the printer.
-
Holding the print head with the nozzles facing downwards, slide it on the cloth while pressing gently.
-
Repeat this action a few times on different sections of the cloth to clean the nozzles.
-
Reinsert the print head back into the printer and run a print test for a quality check.
Note:
The cleaning of the nozzles must not be systematically repeated since it damages the print head;
this operation must only be carried out as last resort before replacing the print head.
