Malfunction diagnosis

It is very important that the user be capable of distinguishing
between functional aspects and malfunctions (often
functional aspects can be mistaken for malfunctions).
Some malfunctions can be resolved by means of simple
operations carried out by the user (which will be described
shortly) whereas with others it is necessary to contact the
Service Department.
We would also like to remind you that any type of interference
in resolving malfunctions by unauthorized persons will ren-
der the guarantee null and void.

6.1

Functional aspects not to be interpreted as
malfunctions

- The compressor fails to start up immediately (startup

takes place approximately three minutes from the
previous turnoff).
When the appliance was designed it was programmed
with such a delay between disactivation and subsequent
activation in order to safeguard the compressor itself.

- When the heating has been turned on, warm air is not

emitted immediately but only after a few minutes following
the compressor’s startup.
If the fan were to start running at the same time as the
compressor, only excessively cold air would be emitted
into the atmosphere for the first few minutes (which could
bother the people present) due to the fact that the appliance
has not had sufficient time to warm up. It is for this reason
that fan startup is delayed in comparison with that of the
compressor.

- The fan stops periodically while the heating is on During

heating, periodic defrosting cycles are carried out inside
the external unit. For functional reasons the internal unit
would tend to give off very cold air rather than hot air
during these cycles. For this reason, the appliance has
been programmed to switch the internal unit’s fan off
during the defrosting cycle (which lasts for a few minutes).

- While the heating is on the external unit leaks water

During the heating phase, heat pump appliances
dehumidify the external air causing humiditiy in the external
unit. If you find such humidity disagreeable, ask the fitter
who laid the appliance to insert a condensate collection
tray under the external unit and to connect it up to a waste
pipe.

6.2

How to identify and deal with the causes of
malfunctions

- The appliance does not come on the reason could be any

one of the following:

- there is no electricity;  such a situation is evident from the

fact that the green LED on the console does not light up;

in such a case
- check to see if there is voltage in the mains (for example,

by switching on a lamp in the house),

- check to see if the general disconnector is on or if a fuse

has blown (if such is the case, replace the fuse). If there
is a circuit breaker instead of a general disconnector
check if the former has tripped (if this is the case then reset
it). If the appliance still does not work, call the Service
Department without further attempts to make it work.

- Check that the general switch has been turned on.
- The remote control’s batteries are dead. The fact that the

batteries are dead can be noted by the absence of
indications on the display and the absence of sound from
the buzzer in receiving commands. If such is the case
replace the batteries.

- The appliance does not cool sufficiently (or does not heat

sufficiently in the case of the heat pump model HP)
the reason could be any one of the following:

- The set temperature could either be too high or too low (in

the case of heat pump appliances);

therefore:
- check the set temperature on the remote control and if

necessary rectify it,

- The air filter has become clogged up before the relevant

pilot light comes on;

therefore:
- check the filter and clean it if necessary

- The external battery is dirty;
therefore:
- check to see if it is dirty and clean it if necessary.

- The flow of air has been obstructed in some way,
therefore:
- remove anything which could be of obstruction.

- The thermofrigorific load has increased (for example, a

door or window has been left open or another appliance
has been installed in the same atmosphere which
dissipates a large quantity of heat);

therefore:
- check that the doors and windows are closed; if it is

discovered that a  source of heat has been installed in the
same room which outdoes the cooling function the only
solution is to install another appliance or substitute the
existing one with a more powerful appliance.

- The internal unit leaks water when the cooling function is

on

the reason could be:
- the terminal part of the condensate discharge flexible has

become blocked;

therefore:
- if the end of the drainage line is in sight check that it is in

working order,

- if the end of the drainage line is not in sight then contact

the fitter who installed the appliance.

IMPORTANT: If the cause of the malfunction cannot be
revealed contact the Service Department immediately
avoiding any type of reparation.
