6.2 Scale to Device Port Connections
The Courier 7000 scale has a standard RS232 port and a USB type C port.
6.2.1 USB (Type C) Port
The USB allows two types of USB communication to be configured including HID and CDC (virtual serial
connections).
6.2.1.1 USB HID
If you connect the scale to a PC by using the USB Type C and select HID type (
HID is the default setting
), the
scale will be compatible with the shipping software (UPS WorldShip / FedEx) without any additional settings.
HIDPOS is a standard Microsoft Human Interface Device protocol for Point-of-Sale equipment which includes a
scale. If the software on the PC is programmed for HIDPOS, the connection is “Plug and Play” and no
additional drivers are needed. In this case, the scale operates as a USB peripheral to the PC.
After connecting the scale to a PC with the USB, turn on the scale and the PC. Check the device manager on
the PC, where the Courier 7000 scale should be identified as a HID-compliant device:
Once the HID-compliant device is found, the device is ready for use.
The USB specification should show:
Vender ID= 0EB8
Product ID= 2407
If you cannot find this device in the HID list, please double check your USB connection.
6.2.1.2 USB CDC
If you need to connect the host computer software via the virtual serial port, you may connect the scale to a PC
by using the USB Type C cable and selecting the CDC type connection in the Courier 7000 software:

button to confirm.
After selecting the CDC type in the Courier 7000 software, select the corresponding protocol to be compatible
with the shipping software you are using:
