HOW TO CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE
WARNING: DANGEROUS VOLTAGES PRESENT DURING THIS TEST, TRAINED
PERSONNEL TO PERFORM THIS TEST. CONFIRM THERE ARE NO FLAMMABLE GASSES
PRESENT WHILE PERFORMING TEST. ARC FLASH HAZARD – APPROPRIATE PPE
REQUIRED WHILE WORKING ON THE FOLLOWING:
Solar System
•
Use Voltmeter set to measure DC voltage
•
Place Red lead in terminal block 1 and Black lead in terminal block 2
•
Voltage reading must be between 11.5 and 13.5 VDC
Note: If Voltage readings fail to meet minimum requirements,
follow trouble shooting steps below
•
Check Solar Panel power source:
o
Confirm Solar panel is clear of any obstruction with the southern sky.
o
Use Voltmeter set to measure DC voltage
o
Place Red lead in terminal block 9 and Black lead in terminal block 2
o
Voltage reading must be between 14 VDC and 17 VDC depending of solar exposure.
Note: If voltage readings fails to meet minimum requirements, check wiring
connections from the solar panel into the TotalArc enclosure. The solar panel has a
junction box in the back side. Open junction box and check terminations. Note that
there will be power at the solar panel terminations, power source can not be
disconnected since it comes directly from solar panel. Follow proper procedures while
performing this test. If no areas of concern are found please call OGI Service
Department.
o
If proper voltage readings are found on previous check, continue with troubleshooting procedure
below:
o
Use Voltmeter set to measure DC voltage
o
Place Red lead in terminal block 3 and Black lead in terminal block 2
o
Voltage reading must be between 12 VDC and 14 VDC depending of solar exposure.
Note: If voltage readings fails to meet minimum requirements, check wiring
connections from the solar panel into the TotalArc enclosure terminal blocks and from
the solar converter SK-6 to the panel terminal blocks.
o
If there are no areas of concern, please contact OGI Service Department for further trouble
shooting.
