Operating conditions of the sensor

The accuracy of the sensor is influenced by
the  quality  of  the  water,  particularly  by
deposits  of  iron,  high  concentrations  of
heavy metals, chlorine or salt and microbi-
ological  contamination.  The  sensor  must
be  changed  at  the  latest  when  sensor
exchange is signalled.

Required water conditions:
-

natural raw water with a hardness
value between 0.18 mmol/l up to 10.8
mmol/l

-

water temperature: 5... 30 °C

-

pH-range: 5...9 pH

-

chlorine content:  < 500 µg/l

-

germ content: < 5.000 cfu/ml

The  water  has  to  be  free  of  acids,  bases  incl.  brine  and  other  basic  liquids,  tensides,
oils, solvents and heavy metals.

11.3

Sensor mounting/Sensor replacement

The request for sensor replacement will be signalized by flashing of all the three LEDs.

For the sensor replacement please act according the following procedure:

1.

Remove power supply unit resp. disconnect the power supply.

2.

Wind  down  the  safety  bolt  of  the  sensor  to  the  plug  socket  of  the  device  and  pull  the
hardness sensor out of the socket.

3.

Press  down  the  clamping  ring  at  the  T-fitting  (flow  chamber)  in  which  the  sensor  is
mounted and remove the sensor straight from the flow measuring chamber.

4.

Take the new sensor out of the box and pull it out of the protective cap straightly

Do not touch or damage the sensible sensor part!

5.

Plug  the  new  sensor  tight  and  vertically  into  the  T-fitting  (flow  chamber).  Please  avoid
mechanically touching of the tube while doing this.

6.

Verify that the sensor is firmly in place by pulling it lightly.

7.

For plugging the sensor in, please turn it to the right position.

The connection plugs are

equipped  with  an  inverse-polarity  protection.  Please  note  that  the  connection  must  be
come off very easily.

The sensor cable must engage hearable and tightly! If you need more effort
to plug the sensor in, the electrical connection will be damaged!

8.

Screw the safety bolt of the socket of the hardness sensor (keep inverse-polarity protec-
tion in mind)

9.

Plug the power supply unit in resp. connect the power supply. The device checks the sen-
sor plug-in  connection at decommissioning and signals sensor alarm  if it not recognizes
the new sensor. In this case disconnect the device once again and check the plug-in con-
nection of the sensor.

10.

Sensor  mounting/replacement  has  been  successfully  completed  if  the  device  recognizes
the new sensor and starts with measuring operation.
