5 Detecting objects
If there are wooden objects in the sensor range, the distance to the object is also indicated. At the point of
the shortest distance, a marking can be set on the wall. After that, the procedure is repeated in the opposite
direction and again a marking is set at the shortest distance. The width changes depending on the depth and
mass of the object. The crosshair appears, when the object is directly below the sensor.
Caution: Wooden materials cannot be detected below ceramic surfaces, carpets, wallpaper with metallic
fibres and in wet walls.
Detecting live wires
After activating, an acoustic signal sounds and the green LED flashes. As the instrument is in the metal
detection mode as standard, press button 7 twice for live wires. The symbol b appears in the display.
If there are no live wires around the scanner although a signal sounds and the traffic light shows red,
the instrument needs calibration.
Place the device onto the wall area where no live wires are. Then guide the instrument over the wall tot he
place, where the drilling is about to be carried out. Move it horizontally or vertically over the surface by slow
zigzagging movements. If the tool approaches a live wire, the height of the bar display rises. At the same time,
the traffic light changes from green to yellow as the object is approached up to red. Then an acoustic signal
sounds. At the point of the shortest distance, a marking can be set on the wall. After that, the procedure is
repeated in the opposite direction and again a marking is set at the shortest distance. The width changes
depending on the depth and mass of the object. The crosshair appears, when the object is directly below the
sensor.
Caution: Static chargings on the wall or water pipes running parallel to live wires might result in inaccurate
measuring values. In order to reduce static electricity and to improve the indication, put your free hand flat
on the wall adjacent to the measuring instrument.
Note: The measuring instrument can detect live cables carrying 110, 240 and 380 V with 50 or 60 Hz.
6 Maintenance and Cleaning
• Wipe off dirt particles or contamination with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.
• In order not to affect the measuring function, stickers or type plates, particularly metallic ones,
may not be attached in the sensor area (9).
• Store and transport the measuring tool only in the supplied protective bag.
