During charging the progress is displayed with a
status indicator LED on the front or side panel.
The micro-controller also controls the charging
progress with regards to the temperature of the
charger and time. If a fault occurs in the battery or
the temperature increases, the charging current will
be limited.
INSTALLATION
The ODYSSEY
®
Battery charger is suitable for
indoor and outdoor use.
It can be positioned horizontally on a table or a
shelf, hung on a wall or as a built-in charger in the
vehicle or machinery.
Position the charger in such a way that air
circulation will not be obstructed.
When the charger is fitted on a wall or mounted in
a vehicle it should preferably be vertically mounted
for optimal cooling. The battery charger will get hot
during operation and should therefore be mounted
away from easy accidental contact with the user if
mounted on a vehicle.
CHARGING
Read the ODYSSEY Battery Owner’s Manual
before charging.
Chargers can be used to charge batteries in-situ
(on vehicle), or removed to a suitable recharging
area. The following connection procedure should
be used:
Battery in-situ:
1.
Connect and disconnect the battery leads only
when the mains supply is disconnected.
2.
For a battery installed in a vehicle, first connect
the positive (red) connector of the charger to
the positive (POS ,P, +) ungrounded post of the
battery. Connect the negative (black) connector
of the charger to the vehicle chassis or engine
block away from the battery.
3.
Do not over-charge the battery.
4.
Do not smoke, strike a match or cause a spark
in the vicinity of the battery.
5.
Use in a well-ventilated area.
6.
Never charge a frozen, damaged, or leaking
battery.
Battery removed from vehicle:
1.
Once removed to a suitable charging station,
connect the positive (red) connector from the
charger to the positive (POS ,P, +) post of the
battery.
2.
Connect the negative (black) connector to the
negative (NEG,N, -) post of the battery.
3.
Ensure charger is correctly secured and
positioned.
4.
Select a suitable power socket for the charger
and turn on power.
5.
Reverse the above procedure to ensure safe
removal.
