3.3. Installing the power tubes
V The standard 6550 tubes are located in a separate tube box and must first be inserted.
Insert the power tubes into their sockets as shown on the tube layout. Ensure that you correctly
locate the anti-rotation lug on each of the tubes.
Reinstall the cover grille. (Reverse order of 3.2.)
3.4. Switching on for the first time – the soft-start feature
The soft start function enables the device to be started without damaging the pipes and
components. Soft start, the time-delayed, gentle start-up of the heating and operating voltage, is
extremely important for the life and sound stability of the tubes.
1) Make sure that the Ecomode switch on the back is in the "off" position.
2) Connect your amplifier to the mains. (For new devices, the Ecomode switch is set to "off" at
the factory).
3) Now switch on the V 40 SE with the power switch. Depending on the position of the input
selector switch, the corresponding LEDs light up. In any case, after switching on the power
LED (lights up as long as the device is in operation) and the
soft start LED
.
The
soft start LED
lights up until the device has started up: approx.
20 - 30 seconds
. After
the soft start LED goes out, the device is ready for operation
