General safety information
1.4 Correct use
The strip earthing clamps EX BES 28, EX BES 300 and EX BES 500
are used for the electrical contacting and integration of pipes and earth-
ing rails (ring equipotential bonding) in the lightning protection equipo-
tential bonding. They are suitable for ambient temperatures of ‒30 °C
to +60 °C. The EX BES strip earthing clamps can be used in Ex zones
1 and 2 (gases, vapours, mists) and in Ex zones 21 and 22 (dusts) in
indoor and outdoor areas.
Use in the Ex zones 0 and 20 is not permissible. The EX BES strip
earthing clamps are not suitable for use in concrete or for static mech-
anical loads.
The EX BES strip earthing clamps are not designed for purposes other
than that described here. If the EX BES strip earthing clamps are used
for another purpose, any liability, warranty or damage claims shall be
rendered null and void.
1.5 Basic standards and directives
– Explosion group according to the ATEX product guideline: IIC
– Tested according to VDE 0185-561-1 (IEC/EN 62561-1): Lightning
protection system components (LPSC) – Part 1: Requirements for
connection components
– Classification according to VDE 0185-561-1 (IEC/EN 62561-1): Re-
leasable connection, class H for high loads
– VDE 0185-305-3 (IEC/EN 62305-3): Protection against lightning ‒

2 General safety information
Observe the following general safety information:
– Follow applicable working, accident and environmental protection
regulations.
– Do not carry out mounting work during a storm.
– For a safe electrical and ignition spark-free contact, the contact sur-
faces must be free of oil, dust or other soiling and should be cleaned
appropriately.
– Before mounting, check the strip earthing clamp for damage.
– When mounting the strip earthing clamp, wear protective gloves.
