4.3 Connecting the pond aerator
The aerator stones in the container are supplied with air by a pond aerator.
•
Pond aerator recommendation: OASE AquaOxy 4800.
•
To ensure effective water circulation, AquaOxy 4800 may only supply air to one ProfiClear Premium
XL Moving Bed module.
How to proceed:


1. Connect the hose from the pond aerator with the air connection and insert the air connection into
the recess of the container.
– Secure the air hose with a hose clip.
5 Commissioning/start-up
The ProfiClear Premium XL Moving Bed module can be filled either only with Pond Pads or with a mix
of Pond Pads and Hel-X.

It can take up to 8 weeks for the Pond Pads/Hel-X to be fully colonised with bacteria.

If more than 60 l of Pond Pads are used, add the additional volume gradually. We recom-
mend adding max. 5 l per week.
How to proceed:
1. Close the slide valve for the DN 75 dirt outlet at the bottom of the container.
2. Check that the entire filter system (pipes and hoses) is complete.
3. Fill the container with water:
– Pump fed system: Switch on the filter pump.
– Gravity fed system: Open the slide valves (supply and return) of the filter series to allow the wa-
ter to flow.
4. Check all pipes, hoses and their connections for leaks.
– Expansion seals may leak initially until they have fully expanded on contact with water.
5. Fill the container with Pond Pads.
– Ensure that the Pond Pads can move freely in the container.
– It can take several weeks for the Pond Pads to become completely colonised. Uncolonised Pond
Pads tend to float more.
6. Add filter starter BioKick.
7. Fit the container cover.
8. When all filter containers are filled with water, switch on the other electrical units (e.g. filter pumps).
If using filter starters (e.g. OASE BioKick), do not operate any UVC clarifiers for at least 24 hours so
s not to disturb the colonisation of the filter media by micro-organisms.
