The ribbon mechanism is reinforced by
a support, similar to that for the material
unwinder. This support (1) must be tilted
away before the ribbon is changed.
The ribbon can then be changed as
described above.
Finally, put the support (1) back in
position.
Setting the ribbon tautness
The two ribbon mandrels carry plastic caps at
their ends (4).
Remove the caps (4) before the setting.
The torsional moments of the ribbon unwind
mandrel (1) and ribbon rewind mandrel (2)
can be set from the front using the red plastic
hexagon (3) on the ribbon mandrels. Turning
clockwise increases the torsional moment.
The ribbon must run evenly and without
creases over the entire length between the
pins while it is being advanced.
To reduce the unwind/rewind moment:
The ribbon must not become loose or
creased.
To increase the unwind/rewind moment:
The ribbon must not visibly elongate or
tear during printing.
The default setting covers a wide range of
different ribbon widths, but an adjustment may
need to be made in the case of very narrow or
very wide foils.
