Remove the three 6 mm bolts, and remove muffler, spark arrester, and muffler gasket as
shown below.

Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark arrester screen as shown below.
Be careful to avoid damaging the screen. The spark arrester must be free of
breaks and tears.

Replace the spark arrester if it is damaged.
6.
Check the muffler gasket; replace if damaged.
7.
Reassemble in the reverse order of removal (reinstall the muffler gasket, spark arrester,
muffler, reconnect the wiring connector that goes to the engine temperature vent control,
and reinstall muffler protector cover).
