Adjustable Handle
The PRION 4 is fitted with an Adjustable Handle as standard. The Ad-
justable Handle is an innovative brake handle, which can be individu-
ally adjusted to the pilot’s hand and this makes it easier to grip. It was
developed in cooperation with Peter Cröniger, DHV training officer and
Lufthansa pilot.
The special thing about the Adjustable Handle is that the fist and
brake line are nearly perfectly aligned, giving the potential for a direct
transfer of force. This makes launching easier, improves the »feeling«
for the wing and as a result, increases flight safety.
Instructions for use:
1. decide in advance if you wish to use the handles as conventional
brake handles or, as we recommend, using the adjustment (see
picture for the closed position).
2. For conventional brake handles, open the Velco fastener at the
»R« or »L« tab, pull through the loop and re-attach. To use the ad-
justable function, fold the strap, pull the Velcro fastener through
the loop and attach.
3. Now adjust the size of the handle to your hand. Use your normal
flying gloves and hold the handle so that the cam buckle sits inside
the palm. Adjust the size of the handle until you have a good fit;
while making sure you can easily release your hand in the case of
an emergency.
4. Practise this way of using the brakes. The feeling is comparable
to using a half-wrap, but the Adjustable Handle offers the advan-
tage that the braking force is distributed across the hand more
evenly and this generally helps to avoid pressure points.
Flying the PRION 4
We recommend completing your first flights with your new wing in
calm conditions. This will give you the opportunity to get to know your
glider. Launches and ground handling on a training hill will also help to
familiarise yourself with the paraglider.
Basics
Risers and lines
The PRION 4 follows the colour coding recommended by the
Para glider Manufacturers Association (PMA):
The A-lines are red
B – yellow
C – blue
Stabilo lines – green
Brake lines – orange
For easy identification, we have continued this colour code on the ris-
ers. The split A-riser is fitted with a label marked »Ears«. The B-riser is
labelled »B-Stall«. This should assist you to safely execute these ma-
noeuvres.
