ULTI-AMPLIFIER INSTALLATION

Up to two additional MC960PA amplifi ers can be connected
to the primary amplifi er for increased speaker capacity. On
each amplifi er, the connector labeled

TO SECOND AMP

 serves

as a low-level audio output for the next amplifi er’s input.

1.  On the additional amplifi ers, remove both plug-in terminal blocks.
2.  Connect each end of the additional amplifi er’s MS7X5SC cable

(routed during rough-in) to the plug-in terminal blocks (see Figure 7).

3.  On the primary MC960PA amplifi er, plug the terminal

block into the connector labeled

TO SECOND AMP

.

4.  On the second MC960PA amplifi er, plug the terminal

block on the cable from the primary amplifi er into the
connector labeled

PREAMP INTERCONNECT

.

5.  On the second MC960PA amplifi er, plug the terminal

block on the cable to the third amplifi er into the
connector labeled

TO SECOND AMP

.

6.  On the third MC960PA amplifi er, plug the terminal

block on the cable from the second amplifi er into the
connector labeled

PREAMP INTERCONNECT

.

S

TEREO/MONAURAL CONFIGURATION

The MC960PA amplifi er has a jumper block that selects
stereo or monaural operation. The factory setting, with the
jumper on one pin, selects stereo operation. When the
jumper block is placed on the two pins, monaural operation
is selected. In multi-amplifi er installations, each amplifi er’s
jumper can be set independently.

Stereo Operation

When the amplifi er is operating in stereo mode, the

GREEN

output terminal is the left channel and the

VIOLET

 output

terminal is the right channel. Up to ten left-right pairs of

45-ohm

speakers (20 speakers total), with each speaker pair

wired through a stereo volume control, can be connected to
the amplifi er. The two

WHITE

 output terminals are common.

Monaural Operation

When the amplifi er is operating in monaural mode, the
left and right channels are combined. The

GREEN

 output

terminal and the

VIOLET

 output terminal produce the same

signal. Each terminal is capable of powering up to ten

45-ohm

speakers (20 speakers total), with each speaker

wired through a monaural volume control. The two

WHITE

output terminals are common.

A

MPLIFIER OUTPUT WIRING

Five large screw terminals at the top of the amplifi er connect
to the MS5X5SC cables that route to the volume controls.

Two other terminals at the top left of the amplifi er  (

GRAY

 &

BROWN

) are not used in this application.

1. Connect the

GREEN

 wires from all the MS5X5SC

cables to the MC960PA

GREEN

 terminal.

2. Connect the

VIOLET

 wires from all the MS5X5SC

cables to the MC960PA

VIOLET

 terminal.

3. Connect the

WHITE

 wires from all the MS5X5SC

cables to either MC960PA

WHITE

 terminal.

4. Connect the

SHIELD

wires from all the MS5X5SC cables to

the MC960PA

SHIELD

 terminal.

To prevent shorting to other

terminals, insulate bare shield wires with leftover cable jackets.
