2.6 USING THE SPEED-BAR
The speed-system on the SKIN 2 can be used to temporarily and gently
vary the speed of the wing. It is utilised by pressing the speed-bar with
the pilot’s feet.
To accelerate, you should extend your legs whilst resting your feet on the
speed-bar. To release the speed-bar bring your legs back to the initial/
neutral position.
It is the responsibility of the pilot to decide how much to accelerate at
any given moment. It is important to remember that the speed-bar is not
the only method to accelerate the wing. Care should be taken when the
following elements interact with each other:
• Speed-bar
• Trimmers
• Brakes
The speed-bar may be used at the same time as the trimmers.
The pilot must note and assess the increase in wind speed and
turbulence, and decide the most safe action to take.
The maximum speed-system travel is 70mm.
