Scene Mode (Shooting Suited to Scenes)

Pet portrait
Use this mode for taking portraits of pets (dogs or cats). When the camera detects the face of
a dog or cat, it focuses on the face and automatically releases the shutter (pet portrait auto
release).
•

: The camera takes one image at a time.

Continuous
(default setting): When focus is acquired on the detected face, 3 images
can be captured (Continuous shooting speed: about 1.2 fps when the image mode
setting is

is selected.
•
A double border (focus area) is displayed around the
detected face, and it turns green when the focus is acquired.
Up to five faces can be detected. When the camera detects
more than one face, the double border is displayed around
the largest face, and single borders are displayed around the
others.
•
When no pet faces are detected, the shutter can be released
by pressing the shutter-release button.
- The camera focuses on the subject at the center of the
frame when no pet faces are detected.
- When
Continuous
is selected, up to 6 images are captured at a rate of about 1.3 fps
while the shutter-release button is held down (when the image mode setting is

(default setting): The camera automatically releases the
shutter when it focuses on the detected face. While

: The shutter is released only when the shutter-release button is pressed.

Digital zoom is not available.
•
Factors such as the distance between the pet and the camera, the orientation or
brightness of the face, and the speed at which the pet is moving may prevent the camera
from detecting the faces of dogs or cats or may cause the camera to display borders
around faces other than those of dogs or cats.
•
Pet portrait auto release
turns off automatically when:
- Five bursts have been taken.
- Internal memory or the memory card is full.
To continue taking images with
Pet portrait auto release
, press the multi selector
