V-Line module commands
This section provides reference information for V-Line module commands.
show vline
Use the
show vline
command to list V-Line settings. The information reported shows the V-Line mode, bypass mode,
heartbeat rate and timeout, and ingress slicing settings.
Syntax
show vline
Parameters
This command has no arguments or keywords.
Example
List V-Line settings:
CONTROLLER>
show vline
vline mode : vline
Bypass mode : auto
Heartbeat rate : 50
Heartbeat timeout : 250
Heartbeat status ACDB : OK
Heartbeat status BDCA : OK
Slicing a ingress : 0
Slicing b ingress : 0>
set vline mode
Use the
set vline mode
command to set the operating mode of a V-Line module. Changes must be committed before they
are implemented on the system.
The following operating modes can be set:
•
V-Line mode
—permits inline integration of a device into a network. Inline devices are continuously monitored for
failure and, depending on how bypass mode has been configured, are either short-circuited (bypassed) or the network
is stopped if the device fails. This mode also allows packets to be sliced before sending onto the live network (ingress).
•
Breakout mode
—copies traffic from the live ports (A and B) to a selectable combination of the monitoring ports (C
and D), with optional egress and ingress packet slicing if required. Use the
set vline breakout
command to specify
breakout ports.
•
Aggregation mode
—aggregates packets received on the live ports (A and B) to monitoring ports (C and D). Use the
set
vline aggregate
command to specify breakout ports.
•
Egress mode
—internally maps other modules to the V-Line module and takes it out of the front ports (A, B, C and D).
Packet slicing is also supported.
Syntax
set vline mode
{
Vline
|
Breakout
|
Aggregation
|
Egress
}
Parameters
Vline, Breakout, Aggregation, Egress
Choose the V-Line operating mode. Note that changes must be committed in
order to enforce the new operating mode.
Example
Select V-Line mode on Slot 4 and commit changes:
