4.1.4 PCI Latency Timer
PCI latency timer determines how long a PCI device can occupy the PCI bus for data
transfer. Setting a higher value of PCI latency timer will increase the data throughput of a
single PCI device, but also increase the waiting time for other PCI devices. Our suggestion
for specifying the value of PCI latency timer is:
If the PCI devices installed are operating with low data throughput, you should specify
a smaller value of PCI latency timer to decrease the waiting time for PCI devices.
If there is a PCI device usually requests a “burst” data transfer (e.x. a Gigabit Ethernet
card), a larger value of PCI latency timer is suggested.
To set the PCI latency timer:
1. When Nuvo-2000+ boots up, press F2 to enter BIOS setup utility.
2. Go to
[Advanced]
[Chipset Configuration]
.
3. Set the
[PCI Latency Timer]
to a proper value for your Nuvo-2000+.
