6 Sensor Handling Instructions
6.1 Electrostatic Discharge and the Sensor
CCD sensors are susceptible to damage from electrostatic discharge and can
deteriorate as a result. Take care when handing the sensor.
6.2 Protecting Against Dust, Oil and Scratches
The CCD sensor window is part of the optical path and should be handled like other
optical components with care. If you use the camera in a dusty area, prepare a
dust-proof enclosure. Dust can obscure pixels, producing dark lines on the image.
6.3 Cleaning the Sensor Window
Dust: Can usually be removed by blowing the window surface using a compressed air
blower.
Oil: Wipe the window with a lint-free cloth wiper moistened with ethyl alcohol carefully
and slowly.
When there is dust or smudges on the sensor window, it appears in the same way as
noise on the image. Please remove it appropriately.
